MAI Flying Academy
Private Pilot License (PPL)
The Private Pilot License (PPL) program at MAI aims to teach students to fly safely and efficiently in Visual Flight Rules (VFR) conditions. The PPL allows you to act as the pilot in command of an aircraft for private or business purposes.
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 18 years
- A-Level or equivalent, including Mathematics and Physics
- Pass psychometric and coordination tests
- Obtain a minimum Class 2 medical certificate from an approved aviation medical examiner
- Pass all theoretical SACAA examinations
Training Includes:
- 45 hours of flight training (including dual and solo hours)
- Ground school covering key subjects like Principles of Flight, Air Law, Meteorology, and more
- Practical flight and navigational skill test
Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
Our CPL program prepares students to act as pilot in command in commercial air transportation. This license meets international standards, paving the way for a successful career in aviation.
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 18 years
- A-Level or equivalent, including Mathematics and Physics
- Meet English Language Proficiency standards
- Valid PPL and Night Rating
- Class 1 medical certificate
- 200 hours of total flight time
Training Includes:
- 100 hours as pilot in command
- 10 hours of night flight
- 50 hours cross-country (CPL with Instrument Rating)
- 40 hours of instrument flying
- Practical skills flight test
Instrument Rating
An Instrument Rating equips pilots with the skills to fly in challenging conditions using only instruments and radio aids.
Requirements:
- Valid PPL or CPL
- Valid Night Rating
- Class 1 Medical Certificate
- 250 hours of total flight time with 100 hours pilot in command
Training Includes:
- 20 hours of instrument flying in an aircraft
- 20 hours in a simulator
- 50 hours cross-country as pilot in command
- Practical skills flight test
